Join us for an ongoing series of continuing education seminars for those certified in Secure Beginnings and Listening Mothers. Others interested in parent infant treatment are cordially invited to attend.
Austin Case, MD will lead a discussion around the paper,
"Prenatal Trauma and Autism" by Suzanne Maicello.
Though much is known about the autistic spectrum, the etiology is not known. Clearly what the infant brings from within along with a toxic mental and physical external environment combine towards life long damage. Therapy consists of emotional connecting that allows containment and growth. This seminar hopes to look at this damage and the useful psychotherapy and understanding needed through vignettes of a 35 year old woman, a 5 year old girl (Suzanne Maiello’s Paper) and a 1 year old whose evaluation is in process. The medical and interdisciplinary needs of patients will be briefly outlined. Of added interest is Esther Bick’s unwritten intense work with damaged Mother Infant relationships from London seminar and supervision, which links with contemporary analytic psychotherapy for developmental problems. The paper will be available to registrants prior to the seminar.
Pre-registration by March 10 is required for CPE credit. There will be a $10.00 fee for the seminar.
